An author in practice is one who actually does the one thing that it takes to have even the remotest chance of success. She writes. She spends time in front of the computer or with pen in hand, or crayon in gnarled fist, or sharp stick gouging away letters in the dirt. She makes it a habit to turn simple words into coherent sentences and coherent sentences into interesting paragraphs.
She does not get caught up in the pitfall of thinking she is too busy to write or she doesn’t have anything to say. She lets the words fall where they will, and with time, she learns to control the words in such a way that they sing…
I want my words to one day sing.
