I liked the characters. Each one was unique and added depth to the story. The action was fast paced and the writing decent. The editing could have been tighter though.
I have to admit, though, what kept me reading was hoping to find out how Elise got the marks on her hands. Either I glazed over that one little fact or the author failed to ever really explain how she got the marks and why she is known as a god killer.
I also couldn’t buy that James, the witch and Elise’s soulmate and partner, would allow her to wander off and face evil alone while he builds a normal life with his girlfriend. The entire series is built on how they balance each other, so that felt contrive.
