The Last Four Digits by Julie Leo

nullIn The Last Four Digits by Julie Leo, private eye Lola Vega is hired to solve the murder of movie star Jack Stone. As a bonus, her employer would like her to find Stone’s missing will. Lola hardly starts her investigation until her employer also turns up dead. With the help of Stone’s psychic guide and drop dead gorgeous police Detective Michael Escobar, Lola turns Los Angeles upside down in search of the killers. Her activity draws the attention of professional killers and, yes…wait for it, circus performers.

Written with a touch of humor, a dash of romance, and a healthy dose of mystery, The Last Four Digits by Julie Leo is filled with interesting twists and amusing turns that keep the main characters on the verge of danger. I like the fact Lola Vega is a lovely, intelligent woman with a lot of career options, but she chooses private detective as her career of choice, not because it will make her rich or because she isn’t qualified to do anything else, but because of the adventure aspect of the job. I adored Molly, the quirky psychic who can eat like teenage boy during a growth spurt when she is nervous and tends to go with the flow no matter what is happening around her.

Julie Leo does a remarkably professional job of writing dynamic characters and creative plot points. Her dialogue is believable and highly entertaining. The situations the characters get into border on unrealistic at times but are still entertaining. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end, and I look forward to reading more from this talented writer.
