Constipation: Potty Humor Backed Up

funny toiletPotty humor, widely appreciated by children, teens and maturity-challenged adults—usually men in my experience—takes left turn when it comes to constipation. I never really understood what was funny about constipation or references in books and film about someone looking like they were constipated until yesterday.

Yesterday was one of those days when I woke up frowning and from there the day went downhill. It was one of those days I wanted to put out a flashing warning sign outside of my desk so innocent bystanders would no better than to poke the bear. By the time I got home from work, I was ready to curl up under the bed and never come out.

Moody Blues

My mood had nothing to do with what was happening around me. No one moron was more annoying than another. My lunch wasn’t cold. Traffic was about the same. My underwear wasn’t too tight, and neither of the cats had puked in my favorite loafers. What I finally concluded after a nice long visit to my favorite toilet, also known as reflection time, is I had been constipated for a few days. The relief from said constipation resulted in an almost immediate improvement of my mood. Huh…really? I’m way too old to admit to in public, and I’m just now figuring out that the lack of a good bowel movement equates to me turning into an obstinate bitch with the bite of a rabid hyena, just waiting to attack the throat of the first person to say boo to me. Who knew?
